I am the youngest of 4 siblings of a Baptist Minister. My mother was a cafeteria worker at my high school. I am a 1963 graduate of the Gumberry High School. I hold a BS degree from Elizabeth City State University. I am active in this organization both on the national and local level. I also hold a Masters in Education and a PhD in education. I also attended the Newburgh Theological Seminary and graduate with a MA in Church Administration. I am a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.,both National and Local chapters.
I am active in the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America, where I serve on the faculty. I sing with the Raleigh Eastern Area Chapter. I taught in Washington, DC for over 25 years before I retired in 2007. I worked at Shaw University from 2009--2011 and returned to Wake County in 2012. I am presently serving as an associate minister of Progressive Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC.
